For business loan brokers: This guide explains Business Loan Timelines: What Brokers Should Explain through the lens of evaluating a clientβs situation, preparing the file, and discussing financing options clearly.

Funding speed is usually the second question after cost, and sometimes it is the first. The honest range is anywhere from a day to a few months, and the loan type the client pick drives most of that. Here is the realistic picture.
Typical timelines by loan type
Merchant cash advances and short-term working capital: the fastest lane. Decisions often come back in 24 to 48 hours and funding lands within days. On Levr our fastest deals have funded within hours of submission.
Business lines of credit: online lenders often decide within a couple of days. Bank lines take longer, often a few weeks. More in our business line of credit guide.
Term loans: online lenders run days to a week or two. Banks commonly take two to eight weeks from application to money in the account.
Equipment and invoice financing: usually days once the asset or invoices are verified.
SBA and government-backed loans: the slowest lane, commonly six to twelve weeks, because there is more process on both the lender and program side.
What actually slows applications down
In our experience it is almost never the lender’s clock, it is the file. Missing bank statements, financials that do not match the application, back-and-forth over one unclear document: each round trip adds days. The single biggest speed upgrade is submitting a complete, consistent application the first time. Here is exactly what documents the client needs before the client start.
How to speed things up
Three things move the needle. First, have the client’s documents ready before the client apply. Second, apply to lenders whose criteria the client actually meet, since a mismatch costs the client a week to hear no. Third, answer follow-ups the same day, because the client’s response time is the one part of the timeline the client fully control.

Quick answers
What is the fastest a business loan can fund? Working capital products can fund same week, sometimes within hours of submission for clean files.
Why do banks take so long? More manual review, stricter underwriting, and more committee steps. The tradeoff is usually better pricing.
